Why Network?
Networking is one of the most important skills an entrepreneur can have, but many people are uncomfortable with the idea of it. It’s never easy to put yourself out there and attempt to make connections with others who are relative strangers. This is where networking with our Mompreneur Licensed Areas come in… we all have something in common already: we are women in business, and most of us are moms.
As part of Ontario Mompreneurs Group, Newmarket and Area Mompreneurs aims to organize friendly, fun, and engaging networking events that will promote a comfortable and inclusive environment. Our networking events have “Connectors” on hand, members who are comfortable approaching attendees who look “lost” or possibly a bit shy. We also aim to educate our members on “Networking Etiquette”, especially for those who are new to the concept of networking!
To us, networking is more than just going somewhere and leaving with a pile of business cards. It’s about meeting new people, and introducing them to your business. It’s about engaging in meaningful conversations that will last beyond the hour of meeting. And most of all, it’s about connecting with others to show them how YOU can help them with THEIR business, so that they may do the same for you.
What To Expect:
Our networking for women events are far from your usual chat over a cup of coffee! We’ve held networking meetings in yoga studios, hair salons, spas, government buildings, restaurants, indoor playgrounds, fitness centres, and so much more! Each Licensed Mompreneur Area arranges different meetings and incorporates different networking structures for each individual meetup. However, most of our meetings follow this general layout:
Registration
Open Networking during registration, mingling, etc.
Introduction
Guest Speaker and/or Demonstrations
Pre-determined based on length and type of meetup
Structured Networking
Pre-determined, dependent on length and type of meetup
Door Prizes
Pre-determined, dependent on length and type of meetup
Closing, Open Networking

Here is a look at some of the great meetups our Licensed Mompreneur Areas have held!
We just held our very first networking meetup, and welcomed over 30 women!! A special thanks to everyone for attending, and to our guest speakers Debra Scott (CEO, Newmarket Chamber of Commerce) and Tracy Walter (Business Development Manager, Newmarket Chamber of Commerce). We were overwhelmed with such a welcoming and positive response, and are already working on our next great networking event! Details will be posted soon!
